Garrett Tax Credit for Iowans One of the first things House Republicans did in 2011 SUBSCRIBE TODAY! Send $18 check or money order for a one year subscription to PO Box 325, Norwalk, IA 50211 was to create the Taxpayer Trust Fund to provide a mechanism for returning excess tax receipts to Iowa tax- - payers. A provision of the property tax reform bill that we passed in the 2013 session provides for a tax credit when Iowans file their 2012 income tax returns. The Iowa Department of Revenue has calculated the amount avail- able to be $54 per person or $108 per couple. The amount NORWALK of the credit comes to $120 million. I would have liked to see a larger amount available, but this was the amount that we could get through the Senate. Moving to the Senate You probably know by now that next year I will be serving in the Iowa Senate instead of the House. I will be resigning my House seat and will be sworn in as a member of the Senate. I will continue to work on the issues that I have told you I would work on in the past, though I recognize that it will be more difficult for the next year, as a member of the minority in the Senate. I do not yet know which committees I will be serving on. As always, feel free to contact me with your ideas or concerns at 515-281-3221 or Julian.Garrett@legis.iowa. Nov.
