Garrett j ulian.garrett@legis.iowa.gov Voter Participation According to Secretary of State Paul Pate, for a non-presidential election a record number of Iowa voters voted in the November 6 election. Unofficial results show that 1,321,151 Iowans or about 61% of registered voters, voted, as compared to 1,142,311, or 59% who voted in 2014. I was pleased to see that Warren and Madison Counties were among the highest in the state when it came to voter turnout, according to Pate. Warren County was number four with a turnout of 67.88 % of registered voters actually voting. Madison County came in at number ten with 65.88% of registered voters casting their ballots. It is gratifying to see that the efforts of a lot of people to increase turnout in Warren and Madison Counties apparently paid off. You may remember that a number of Democrats complained that the Voter ID law that we passed in the last session would suppress the vote. Obviously that was not the case.
