Tis the season to give thanks for our many
blessings, spend quality time with our loved ones,
and gripe about the leftovers--sometimes while we re
spending quality time with our loved ones.
Of course, some people gripe about leftovers year
round. But almost everyone complains about them
in the days after Thanksgiving. And some are still
complaining in the weeks and months after the (
Thanksgiving. Despite their apparent frustration

with holiday leftovers, they keep roasting turkeys
the size of Plymouth Rock. For heaven s sake, if you
really don't want leftovers, stuff a Cornish game hen.
Or roast a couple of hotdogs.
I, for one, will never give UP the colossal
Thanksgiving turkey. Nor will I ever complain about
leftovers. I love leftovers--not eating them. Serving
them! The benefits of serving leftovers far outweigh
the benefits of cooking something new---especially if
I'm doing the cooking.
Feeding your family leftovers saves time. Not only
do you spend less time grocery shopping, cooking,
and washing pots and pans; your family doesn't waste
nearly as much -time eating.
If I were cooking for my extended family this
Thanksgiving, which I am not, but if I were, I would
cook the biggest turkey I could find in order to avoid
cooking the next meal---or the next 25 meals. Think
