Box 325, Norwalk, IA 50211 Member of: National Newspaper Iowa Newspaper Association Association OBITUARY KENNETH TRAFTON loved traveling, meeting new people, bowling, family gatherings, his children and grand- children and he loved a good story, a good laugh and woodworking• Those left to honor his Kenneth 73, Ames, OBITUARY ETHEL HUGHES Ethel Mary Hughes, the daughter of William and Mable (nee: Law) Geake was born in March 20, 1922 in Richard, Saskatchewan, Canada. Ethel's family moved from Canada to Wall Lake, Iowa when she was 10 years old, where she graduated from Wall Lake High School. Ethel graduated from Waldorf College of Nursing at Iowa Metho- dist Hospital in Des Moines. She then served her country honorably as a nurse in the United States Army during World War II. She married the love of her life, Howard Hughes on November 16, 1946 in Wall Lake, Iowa. To this union they had four children, Jane, Sally, memory include his wife Tom and John. Together Mauree'n; d&ugliters: they made their homein Connie (Dan) Wulf, Norwalk where Howard Tipton; Jodi Teel, farmed. Lee Trafton Eldridge; Michelle (Mike) Ethel and Howard formerly of Mausser, Steamboat were members of the dist Church. Ethel was also a member of the American Legion and the Order of the Eastern Star. Ethel continued to live in her home until recently when she moved to Wesley Acres in Des Moines, Iowa. On Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 23, 2017, Ethel passed away peacefully. She lived 95 years, 8 months and 3 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Howard in 2012. Ethel is survived by her four children, Jane Walker of Norwalk, Sally Hollander of Trophy Club, TX, Tom Hughes of Norwalk, and John Hughes of Norwalk; six grandchildren, Jeff, Brian Matt, Chris, Josh, and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30th, with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 1st at O'Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk• A luncheon will immediately follow services.
