After he moved from Morrilton to Wash- ington, he began to travel and visit family and Concluded next column OBITUARY EDWARD DEAN LANNING Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 12, at the Eastside Church of the Nazarene, Des Moines, for Edward Dean Lanning, 83, Norwalk. Burial was in the Norwalk Cemetery. Edward Dean Lanning, the son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Wells) Lanning, was born May 12, 1931 in Dexter. He was raised by his grandparents, Mel- bourne and Kathryn Lan- ning of Norwalk and grad- uated from Norwalk High School in i949. Ed attended Simpson College before joining the Army during the Korean War. He worked at the Des Moines National Bank un- til becoming a stockbroker for 27 years. After retire- ment, he drove a school bus for Southeast Polk School District. Ed en- joyed sports and golf, win- ning many trophies. Ed is survived by his wife, Mary; two daugh- ters, Diane (George) Von Paris, and Kathy Lanning, OBITUARY LONNIE DEAN KNESS Services were held Sun- day, Dec. 14, at O'Leary Celebration of Life Center - Funeral & Cremation Services in Norwalk for Lonnie Dean Kness, 57, Norwalk. Cremation fol- lowed. Lonnie Dean Kness earned his golden wings at age 57. He was born Octo ber 25, 1957 in Estherville and later spent some time living in Arizona, Colo- rado, Arkansas, New Mex- ico, Washington, Tennes- see and Illinois. He continued his edu- cation after high school and then went on to serve in the military from 1979 to 1981. He is survived by his mother, Alice; sister, Shel- ley; brother, Bradley; four children, Joshua, William, friends when he felt well enough. He was making his way around the children and had plans to spend a little time with each of them though he was stubborn when it came to expressing feelings. He loved everyone and was a great guy. OBITUARY TRELLA BLACKMAN A Memorial service wag held at the Norwalk Unit- ed Methodist Church Wednesday, Nov. 12, for Trella Gardner Blackman, 92, Norwalk, who died Fri- day, Nov. 7, at Bright Ka- vanagh in Des Moines. Burial was in the Norwalk Cemetery. Trella Gardner Black- man was born December 4, 1921 on a farm near Algo- na to Delos and Margaret Moore Gardner. She had four brothers and one sis- ter. November 19, 1944 she was united in marriage to Robert G. Blackman. To- gether they had two sons, Roger Clark and Dennis Delos. Survivors include her" son, Dennis; grandchil- dren, Bradley (Kristin), Eric (Ann), Taylor (Devin), Sara (John), Amanda and Ben; eight great-grandchil- dren; brother, Curtis, and Trella Blackman 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Roger; daugh- ter-in-law, Carol; three brothers; one sister; and her parents. OBITUARY LEO ANCELL Funeral services were held Thursday Dec. 11, at O'Leary Celebration of Life Center - Funeral & Cremation Services in Norwalk for Leo Ancell, 80, Norwalk. Burial was in the Norwalk Cemetery. Leo Ancell, the son of Roy and Pansy (Helm) Ancell, was born February 26, 1934 in Des Moines. Leo lived in Des Moines prior to moving to Nor- walk in 1972. Leo married Patricia Bonnett February 28, 1954 in Oskaloosa and to this union they were blessed with two children, Micha- el and Michelle. Leo worked at Armstrong Tire- for over 40 years and was a proud union member. Leo and Pat also farmed south of Norwalk. Leo died December 8, 2014 at UnityPoint Hospi- tal in Des Moines. He lived 80 years, nine months and 12 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ray, Jerry Leo Ancell and Ivan Ancell; and one sister, Ila Ancell. He is survived by his children, Mike (Judy)An- cell of Indianola, and Shel- ly (Dan) Knox of Norwalk; five grandchildren, Becky Aquino, Jill Young, Stacy Roberts, Jaci Marberry and Jessi Strawn; nine great- grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Pat) Ancell; a sister, Joan (Bob) Floden; and his special friend, Colleen Sea- man.
