The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. Upon proper motion the meeting was adjourned at 11:04 a.m. ATTEST: AUDITOR, Traci VanderLinden CHAIR, Doug Shull OFFICIAL PUBLICATION RESOLUTION NO. 1217-15-154 A RESOLUTION DIRECTING NOW REVENUES FROMTHE IMPOSITION OF A LOCAL OPTION SALES AND SERVICE TAX (LOSST)WOULD BE USED IN THE CITY OF NORWALK SHOULDTHE PROPOSAL BE APPROVED BYTHE ELECTORATE WHEREAS, Chapter 423B of the Code of Iowa authorizes the imposition of certain local option taxes alter an election in which the majodty of the electors vote in the affirmative; and, WHEREAS, in light of being provided with sufficient resolutions to call an election, the Board of Supervisors of Warren County, Iowa on September 2, 2015 authorized the calling of a special county-wide election to be held Mamh 1,2016 for the purpose of permitting the electorate to pass upon the proposition of imposing a sales and service tax; and, WHEREAS, the City of Norwalk needs to specify certain provisions of said election. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Norwalk; that: Section 1. The revenues from the local option sales and service tax effective July 1, 2016 are to be allocated in the City of Norwalk as follows: 75% to costs related to the construction and/or rehabilitation and operation of public safety, public works, street maintenance and any other lawful purpose; and, o 25 ~/o to property tax relief. Sec~on 2. The rate shall be One-percent (1%) and there shall not be a sunset of the local option sales and service tax in the City of Norwalk. Section 3. That the City clerk is hereby authorized and directed to provide a certified copy of this Motion to the County Commissioner of Elections of Warren County and to the Board of Supervisors of Warren County.
