OBITUARY
FRANCESCA G. CAIRO
Services were held
Tuesday, Feb. 16, for
Francesca G. Cairo, 90,
who died l~riday, Feb. 12,
at University Park Care
Center in Des Moines.
Burial was in Resthaven
Cemetery.
Survivors include her
sons, Orren L. (Norma)
Cairo, formerly of
Norwalk and now of West
Des Moines, Brent R.
(Julie) Cairo, West Des
Moines, and Ronald D.
(Susan) Cairo, Venice, FL;
six grandchildren and ten
great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death
were her parents, two sis-
ters, one brother, grandson
Tyler Cairo, great-grand-
son Ronald Shomette, and
great-granddaughter
Holly Cairo.
Memorial contributions
may be made to The
American Cancer Society
or Hospice of Central
Iowa.

JANIS KIRKHAM
THOMPSON
Former Norwalk resi-
dent Janis Kirkham Th-
ompson, 73, died Sunday,
Feb. 14, at Hospice House
in Bend, OR with her fam-
ily at her side, Per her re-
quest, no services are
planned.
Mrs. Thompson was
born August 18, 1936 in
Cass County, moving with
her family to Norwalk
when she was an infant.
After she graduated from
Norwalk High School in
1953, she worked at North-
western Bell Telephone
Co. and later an insurance
company. In 1956 she mar-
ried Joe Thompson. Chil-
dren born to this union
were Jan, Becki, Joseph,
Steve and Stefanie.
Throughout the years she
lived in Des Moines, Kan-
sas City, MO, Canoga Park,
Rohnert Park and
Cameron Park in Califor-
nia and Bend, OR. She en-
joyed watching car races,
playing computer games
and her family.
Survivors include her
daughters, Becki (Lance)
Bloch and Stefanie
Oswald; grandchildren,
Aimee (Jim) Willoughly,
Preston (Mel) Kruell, Chris
and Trenton Oswald and
Taylor Thompson; one
great-grandchild, Ethan
Willoughly; two sisters,
Priscilla (Dean) Hummer
of California and Myrna
(Paul) Barkley of Norwalk;
cousins, nieces and neph-
ews. '
Memorials are sug-
gested to Hospice.
