Registration forms for events are available 24 hours
a day at the Parks and Recreation office (1100
Chatham Avenue, inside the Norwalk Public Safety
Building) or print them off our website:
www.norwalk.iowagov. You can mail registration
forms, place them in our drop box, or walk in. Office
hours are 8:00 am. to 4:30 pm. Monday thru Friday.
The drop box is open 24/7. If you have any questions,
please call us at 515-981-9206. On-line registration
is also available on our website: www.norwalk
parks.org.
We are now accepting Park Shelter House
reservations through October.
The city has a new alert system! Are you
missing your weekly emails? How about your activity

Elizabeth Holland Park located at 1401 Colonial
Parkway, east of Hwy 28 on the south side of
Beardsley Street is looking amazing! It currently
includes2 ponds stocked by the DNR, a walking trail
with lighting, prairie, and a parking lot on the south
side of the park on Colonial Parkway. At this time
the park is still CLOSED due to construction and we
ask that you please stay off the trail until it is safely
open. Opening date is to be announced soon! Watch

Billy Phillips Park playground equipment
located at 2500 Lexington Drive will be going under
construction and closed to the public beginning
September 16th, 2019. The mulch surface will be
removed and a poured surface will be added as well
as our new wheelchair swing. Please watch for

Norwalk Aquatic Center operational hours will
be changing due to lack of lifeguards beginning
August 1'9th, 2019 until the close date August 22nd,
2019. Operational hours for August 19th, 20th, 21st,
and 22nd will be 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm for lap swim, '
1:00 pm to 6:00 pm for public swim. Thank you for a
great season!

Early Bird Body Sculpting
For those of you who get up with the chickens, come
join this early morning class that will work on
ultimate body sculpting, Pilates, and ChicoMetrics.
This class is designed to maximize core strength, firm,
and tone your butt, thighs, and arms. This class will
use dumbbells, big exercise balls (your own on
designated days) and dynabands that will put you to
the test with added intensity. Bring a mat/towel,
hand weights are optional. Mary Jane Sharp is the
instructor. Program dates are September 3 October
17, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30 am to 6:15 am.
Craft Club
Get out your glue gun and imaginations for this”
program. Children in 3rd through 5th gradestat
Lakewood Elementary are invited to join. They meet
once a month after school on early out Wednesdays
to make special art and craft projects. Details TBA.
Little Dribblers Basketball
This program is for boys and girls in Preschool (4
& year olds) and Kindergarten. This activity teaches.
the beginning fundamentals of basketball. Volunteer
coaches WILL be needed for the program. T-shirts
will be provided. Times will vary depending on the
number of teams. Details TBA.
5th/6th Grade Boys/Girls Basketball
This program is for boys and girls in 5th and 6th
grades. This is a coed team unless we have enough
to assign boy/girl teams. League will practice one
night a week and play games on Saturdays. Volunteer
coaches WILL be needed for the program. T-shirts
will be provided. Times will vary depending on the
number of teams. Details TBA.
4th - 6th grade Volleyball
This program is for boys and girls in 4th through
6th grades. Our goal is to have fun while teaching
the fundamentals of volleyball. We will work on
passing, setting, and ‘spiking with an overall
emphasis on good sportsmanship. This program will
begin with practice for the first two weeks and then
the boys and girls will be assigned to teams and will
play games for the next four weeks. Details TBA.
Adult Women’s Volleyball League
Join a couple of friends and come out and enjoy an
evening of volleyball. This league will play on Sunday
nights with location TBA. This league is self-
officiating. Please register as a team ‘maxiiri‘grii

Trick or Treat nighforwa w1 e ' dnesday,
October 30 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Before you head
out for a ghostly fun time in your neighborhood, be
sure to stop by the Public Safety Building (from 5:30
to 6:30) to pick up your trick-or-treat bag, glow sticks,
and treats. This event is for children Preschool to 5th
grade, and will be held at the Norwalk Fire Station
‘ bay, drive through the South side of 1 and 2.. if
OPALS — Older People with Actiilve Life Styles
Senior Citizen Exercilse
Everyone ages 55 and older is invited to attend a free
exercise program that will include stre hing and toning.
We will meet at Christ Our Savior L , theran Church
(new location) located at 515 Sunset D'rllve. Registration
is not required. This is a continuous program every
Monday and Wednesday from 10-10230 a.m.
