Registration forms for events are available 24 hours
a day at the Parks and Recreation office (1100
Chatham Avenue, inside the Norwalk Public Safety
Building) or print them off our website:
www.norwalk.iowa.gov. You can mail registration
forms, place them in our drop box, or walk in. Office
hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
The drop box is open 24/7. If you have any questions,
please call us at 515-981-9206. On-line registration
is also available on our website: www.norwalk
parks.org.
We are accepting Park Shelter House
reservations through October.

Elizabeth Holland Park located at 1401 Colonial
Parkway, east of Hwy 28 on the south side of Beardsley
Street is looking amazing! It currently includes 2 ponds
stocked by the DNR, a walking trail with lighting,
prairie, and a parking lot on the south side of the park
on Colonial Parkway. At this time the park is still
CLOSED due to construction and we ask that you
please stay offthe trail until it is safely open. Opening
date is to be announced soon! Watch for updates on
our Facebook page @Norwalk parksandrecreation and
on our website www.Norwalkparks.org.
Billy O. Phillips Park playground equipment
located at 2500 Lexington Drive will be going under
construction and closed to the public beginning
September 16th, 2019. The mulch surface will be
removed and a poured surface will be added as well
as our new wheelchair swing. Please watch for updates

join this early morning class that will work on
ultimate body sculpting, Pilates, and Chico Metrics.
This class is designed to maximize core strength, firm,
and tone your butt, thighs, and arms. This class will
use dumbbells, big exercise balls (your own on
designated days) and dynabands that will put you to
the test with added intensity. Bring a mat/towel,
hand weights are optional. Mary Jane Sharp is the
instructor. Program dates are September 3 - October
17, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30 am to 6:15 am.
Dog Swim
Have a blast with your pups at the pool on August
22nd! This event will take place from 6-7:30 pm at
the pool - $4 admission fee per dog, owners free.
Family Bingo Nights
Stop by the library on Sunday evenings and enjoy
a good time with bingo and tasty treats. Please bring
munchies or snacks to share and we provide
beverages. All ages are invited to participate. Bingo
callers are Norwalk Lions members. Program dates
are Sundays October 6, November 3, December 1,
February 2, March 1, and April 5, from 5-7 pm.
Family Open Gym
Shoot hoops or play a pick up game with friends Or

Capture the Heart of America Photo Contest
Entries are now being accepted into the 2019 Capture the Heart of America
photo contest. From day-to-day life on the family farm to the ever-changing
industry, agriculture has proven to be one of America's most compelling stories.
Through the contest, photographers from across the country can share their
own piece of this important story as they see it through their camera lens.
Contest categories include: Iowa Farmscapes, Life on the Iowa Farm, Silos &
Smokestacks Partner Sites, Celebrations of Iowa Agriculture, Modem Agriculture in Iowa,
and Agriculture in America. Awards presented will include Best of Show - $500, First
Place - $100 (each category), Second Place - $50 (each category), Third Place - $25 (each
category), People's Choice- $50, and lsitor Guide Photo Feature Award- $250.
Photos submitted in the contest must be agriculturally related and help to
preserve this important piece of America's story. The contest is open to amateur
and professional photographers from all over the United States. Photos must be
submitted by the individual who took the photograph. Contest sponsors, judges,
and Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area staff/members of their
immediate family are not eligible to enter. Employees and volunteers of
designated SSNHA Partner Sites are eligible to submit entries.
