You can mail registration forms, place them in our drop box, or walk in. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The drop box is open 24/7. If you have any questions, please call us at 515-981-9206. On-line registration is also available on our website: www.norwalk parks.org. We are accepting Park Shelter House reservations through October. The city has a new alert system! Are you missing your weekly emails? How about your activity guide? Get signed up today! Elizabeth Holland Park located at 1401 Colonial Parkway, east of Hwy 28 on the south side of Beardsley Street is looking amazing! It currently includes 2 ponds stocked by the DNR, a walking trail with lighting, prairie, and a parking lot on the south side of the park on Colonial Parkway. At this time the park is still CLOSED due to construction and we ask that you please stay offthe trail until it is safely open. Opening date is to be announced soon! Phillips Park playground equipment located at 2500 Lexington Drive will be going under construction and closed to the public beginning September 16th, 2019. The mulch surface will be removed and a poured surface will be added as well as our new wheelchair swing. This class is designed to maximize core strength, firm, and tone your butt, thighs, and arms. This class will use dumbbells, big exercise balls (your own on designated days) and dynabands that will put you to the test with added intensity. Bring a mat/towel, hand weights are optional. Mary Jane Sharp is the instructor. Program dates are September 3 - October 17, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30 am to 6:15 am. Dog Swim Have a blast with your pups at the pool on August 22nd! This event will take place from 6-7:30 pm at the pool - $4 admission fee per dog, owners free. Family Bingo Nights Stop by the library on Sunday evenings and enjoy a good time with bingo and tasty treats. Please bring munchies or snacks to share and we provide beverages. All ages are invited to participate. Bingo callers are Norwalk Lions members. Program dates are Sundays October 6, November 3, December 1, February 2, March 1, and April 5, from 5-7 pm. A league is for teams that are more competitive and 2 and B league for the non-competitive, fun league OPALS- Older People with Active Life Styles teams. Each league will be limited to 6 teams. We Senior Citizen Exercise will combine the leagues if needed. Officials will be Everyone ages 55 and older is invited to attend a provided for each game. Please register as a team - free exercise program that will include stretching and there is a minimum of six players with a maximum toning. We will meet at Christ Our Savior Lutheran often. This is a continuous Early Bird Body Sculpting program every Monday and Wednesday from 10: For those of you who get up with the chickens, come 10:30 a.m. Capture the Heart of America Photo Contest Entries are now being accepted into the 2019 Capture the Heart of America photo contest. From day-to-day life on the family farm to the ever-changing industry, agriculture has proven to be one of America's most compelling stories. Through the contest, photographers from across the country can share their own piece of this important story as they see it through their camera lens. Contest categories include: Iowa Farmscapes, Life on the Iowa Farm, Silos & Smokestacks Partner Sites, Celebrations of Iowa Agriculture, Modem Agriculture in Iowa, and Agriculture in America. Awards presented will include Best of Show - $500, First Place - $100 (each category), Second Place - $50 (each category), Third Place - $25 (each category), People's Choice- $50, and lsitor Guide Photo Feature Award- $250. Photos submitted in the contest must be agriculturally related and help to preserve this important piece of America's story. The contest is open to amateur and professional photographers from all over the United States. Photos must be submitted by the individual who took the photograph. Contest sponsors, judges, and Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area staff/members of their immediate family are not eligible to enter. Employees and volunteers of designated SSNHA Partner Sites are eligible to submit entries. Contest entries are due by October 31st, 2019.
