"I have always been interested in what I can give back to the commuity of Norwalk. I moved to Norwak 44 years ago and have al- ways felt that it is a great place to live, grow up and raise a family. "Norwalk is growing and it will be very im- portant to not let short- term gains override what the long-term ef- fect could be for the community and its citi- zeI~. "We need to strive at all times to make good decisions based on good research and input from our community at every step of the way. We need to be proud of what we do today and be able to rise to the challenges of-bchat lies ahead. We should always try to en- sure that we deliver services to our citizens that we can be proud of and at the same time be accountable for what the' cost L4 to the Citizens of,Norw~alk. --,- "To sum it up, I would like to be a part of the council team that helps to plan for the future and make the commu- nity of Norwalk a stronger and safer place to raise a family and enjoy life." "Norwalk has al- ways been my home. I thought of Norwalk of- ten while sitting under the stars of other states and foreign countries. It is the only place I ever considered raising my children. I just want to five something back to a community that has given me so much." Q. "Property taxes need to be brought in line with other commu- nities. Norwalk needs to be more business friendly. Q. What are some of your concerns for~our growing community? A. "We are growing rapidly with little business base to help with schools' support and other community needs." Q. Have you been ac- tive in other community projects and if so, what are they? A. "Coached soccer.' Q. Do you have mem- berships in professional, civic, social, church or- ganizations? A. "Iowa Association of Realtors. Q, What are your hobbies and/or special interests? A. A. "Norwalk is grow- hag. My skills in business will help us to grow in- telligently. We need to attract commercial busi- nesses to help support this growth. My experi- ence in sales and busi- ness will be invaluable in courting businesses thinking of locating in Norwalk. My extensive experience with budget- ing and other responsi- bilities involved with running a business will be an asset as a city councilman." Q. "I would like to see the city run like a business. My background as a business person will help bring these skills to the council. I want to bring unity to our differ- ent departments." Q. What are some of your concerns for our growing community? A. "We need to be able to expand our mu- nicipal services as the city grows. It is also vi- tal to attract new com- mercial businesses so we can eventually lower property taxes and im- prove our quality of life, and my experience with running a successful busi- ness in Norwalk for 16 years will help me be able to attract the busi- nesses we need." Q. Have you been ac- tive in other community projects and if so, what are they? A. "I have been a member of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce." Q. Do you have mem- bership in professional, civic, social, church or- ganizations? A. "I am involved with St. John the Apos- tle Parish in Norwalk. I am also one of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the team for Christ Renews His Parish, as well as a member of Legatus, an organization of Catholic business lead- ers." Q. What are your hobbies and/or speciat interests? A. "I enjoy golf and played competitively in college. I also enjoy par- ticipating in and going to my children's school and athletic events."
